ERLC Church Camp, June 3 to 6, 2014
The children of ERLC always eagerly look forward to the annual school church camp; this year held in the Wesley Methodist Church, Klang and with the theme “Because He Lives”.
Over 130 students across all age groups were transported by ERLC’s minibuses on Tuesday to Wesley Church for the initial registration, settling in and allocation into 8 different, competitive teams.
Accomodation was spartan but clean, and had the advantage on prior years of airconditioning in the dormitories; and all were vigilantly watched over by the Camp Matron and Warden.
Whilst more serious Biblical topics were covered, the more energetic day was Wednesday when the afternoon was used to play a variety of entertaining and unusual games.
Controlled chaos engulfed the camp as the 8 teams ran from one game station to another; desperately seeking to score the maximum number of points within a fixed game-time.
The highlight of the camp, however, was on the following evening when an “ERLC Has Talent” competitive show was performed in Wesley church.
Each of the teams was allocated a Biblical story or theme, and asked to present a skit on the subject e.g. Abraham’s sacrifice of Isaac, David & Goliath
The children rose to the challenge and put on an array of creative and stimulating interpretations of their assigned topics.
An impartial jury (of 3 luminaries from MMK’s supporting churches) judged the skits, and handed a hard-fought victory to Group 3; though Group 1 eventually won the overall Camp challenge.
A full-house audience of over 200 friends and families turned up to cheer on the students; and Wesley church’s well appointed audio-visual equipment & accompanying team provided impeccable support to each performance.
A Big “Thank You” to all those who helped the children enjoy these 4 days of fellowship and fun; including Jimmy Chia and his team of volunteers for organising the games & show, as well as the behind-the-scenes helpers with food and logistics.
Please join us all again next year !
