ElShaddai Sewing Centre is now opened!
Another beacon of hope was lit for the well being of refugee families on September 22, 2012 with the official launch of the Elshaddai Sewing Centre in Lorong Gopeng, Klang.
Bro Andrew Ng, MMK Chairman kicked off the event by explaining the background and purpose of the Centre; followed by Sis Yap Siok Yan who gave an update on the Centre’s status to the gathering of supporters.
Reverend Yeo Teong Loke, senior pastor of Klang Chinese Methodist Church, performed the dedication ceremony and Bro Jesse Teh, MMK Secretary & Operations Head, gave an impromptu outline of the Elshaddai organisation’s origins and purpose.
In addition to cloth displays, the centre is also being used to market hand-made paper baskets made by the children of the Elshaddai Refugee Learning Centre (where the children of the seamstresses go).
The centre is now ready and able to spring into action when orders arrive; though there is still sufficient work capacity to focus on producing pretty, well-designed pillow cases for the year end festive season (see photos of these included here).
So, dear readers, if you need any sewing work done, please don’t hesitate to call June or Yen at the numbers below.
Let’s support the refugee families and sew-up your list of sewing “to-do’s” !
