The Telegu Fellowship is one of the people groups that is under the cover of Migrant Ministry Klang. This fellowship meets at the Wesley Methodist Church Klang on Sundays at 6.30p.m.

The Telegu is part of the Indian Migrants and have a language and culture of their own so when the Indian Migrants arrive only a percentage are Telegu. The Tamil speaking group have Tamil churches to go to but these people need us to cater for them and that is how we started the Telegu fellowship.

The Pastor is Suavana Raju from India of the state Andhra Pradesh. This is Pastor Raju’s second furlough here. From 2005 – 2007 he served at this fellowship then he returned to India and now 2010 he has returned to study at Bible College and so has also been recruited by MMK to lead the Telegu Fellowship. His study here has been graciously sponsored by St Barnabus Church.

Three churches help out in this fellowship they are Shekeinah Glory Church, Marthoma Church Klang and Wesley Methodist Church Klang.

We have bible study weekly conducted by Pastor Raju at various locations, namely Kg Jawa, Kota Kemining and Bukit Tinggi. There are group of nurses who attend regularly and they are from Sri Kota and Pantai Medical. The average Sunday attendance is approx 30 – 35.

In the month of April we had 2 sisters were Baptized they are Sis Mary and Sis Pushpa. This is exactly what we are called to do that is to bring these brothers and Sisters to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. There was much rejoicing in the group. For the coming babtism 2 brothers are ready so we need to continue to cover them in prayer.

Do cover this group in prayer as well the Migrant Ministry in this very important outreach work.

Greetings to all partners and supporters of MMK in the Name of Of our Lord Jesus Christ.

MMK will like to take this opportunity to thank our brother Peter Siah for his services and contributions he has made to MMK since its inception. He has taken up a new challenge to be involved with the Kairos course to do training in particular in Chinese to the Chinese speaking churches. MMK will like to bless him in his new involvement with Kairos. MMK would also like to welcome Sophiya as a part time administrator and we hope she will be able adapt well to her new working environment. We would like to take thank Pastor Benjamin for his services in the Myanmarese ministry and he too will be leaving MMK in the coming month.

MMK would like to welcome Daniel and Newton who will take charge of the Indonesian and Bangladeshi ministry. We request for your prayer support for the pastors of the different ministries as they face new challenges each day in their labour for the Lord. Pray that God to fill them with wisdom from above and special enablement so that they are armed and equipped when they are out in the field winning souls for the Lord.

The various ministries will be having their annual camp during the Hari Raya holidays in September 2010. Pray that the camps will be well attended and God will move in a wonderful way to touch and warm the hearts of the participants.

MMK and UNHCR will hold a food festival sometime in November 2010. There will also be a dinner organized to raise funds for the refugees’ which was started last year. Do remember us in your prayer and give us your support.

May the grace of our Lord Jesus, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

From the beginning of the year we felt the strong move of the Lord in our midst. We perceived that God was seriously telling us to move and work with him. We said, “ Yes, Lord”. Since then God has been continually showering his blessing upon Klang Nepali Chautari .

We just finished our first phase of evangelistic meeting this month. By the grace of God, KNC ( Klang Nepali Chautari) has been able to reach out to 290 fresh souls. New souls are being added week by week. We are going through the pentecost experience. New & Fresh revival is hitting Klang now. We are preparing for our next phase of evangelistic meeting. We are expecting a big harvest.

It is indeed wonderful and exciting to work with CHRIST.

KNC had a baptism service on april 18, God gave us 22 new souls, we were able to initiate them to believers baptism. (Out of 22, four brothers could not make for the baptism, they were working). We are excited.

Praise the Lord.

About a month ago, UNHCR hosted an appreciation lunch to recognise volunteers’ (partners of UNHCR) contribution and partnership in helping the refugees. We were given an update that there are now people from 15 different nations registered with them. The refugees had fled their countries due to political, religious or economical reasons. Out of about 90,000 registered refugees, 80% are from the country of Myanmar. Within the Myanmarese group, it is sub divided into two main group, i.e. the Chin and the Rohingyas, with other sub divisions in between. Many left their country due to political, ethical and economical deprivation.

It’s quite impossible to prevent the inflows of these people as our borders are quite porous as it is easily accessible by and land and sea. The crucial issue is not about the refugees’ demography but the pertinent question that we should ask as a Church acting as a body of Christ on earth is “how can we be relevant to these down trodden/ deprived and marginalise group of people”?

Some come from the most Unreached or least reach People group (UPG/LPG)… groups that God will want us to show equal concern. Reflecting on the O/T time, He has to constantly reminded the Israelites, His chosen race, to care for the widows, the fatherless and the aliens in their midst. (Lev 19:33-34/ Deut 10:17-20/ Zec7 : 8-10)

Interestingly, a recent news paper article featured for several days, a specific group of refugees begging at the very town we’re situated. (The Star 6th / 7th and 9th April). Interviews highlighted their predicament. This is the same people group that MMK is currently engaging with. Some of their kids are attending the refugee’s school, and we’re seeking ways to elevate their livelihood.

In the church knowing the truth of God is only half the story. Like Isaiah’s Chapter 1, it reminded the people of Judah during the pinnacle of their rule, that the people though religious and right, should learn to do what is right! To seek justice, encourage the oppressed, defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow (VV16-17). The point here is that real and vital faith is not about being right or religious, but is about our relationship with God that produces righteousness.

I suppose it’s good to be concerned about being right, but being right is at best only half the issue. What God cares about most is that are we righteous.

The Nepali Leadership Camp 2010 organized by MMK with the partnership with other Nepali fellowships went on successfully. The camp was scheduled on 14-16 february of Chinese New year at APC center in Kualalumpur. We received good response from the various groups. The number of attendees were 92 including one volunteer. The camp started with spirit filled key note address by Pastor Elanko, the atmosphere was charged and everyone felt that God is speaking His heart out to the Nepali leaders. Are you ready to move with God ? – The response was postive. We did not invite any overseas speakers. Brother Santosh (PJ nepali fellowship) and Bro. Pasang (Klang Nepali Fellowship) made an great effort to lead & teach their own people. The two speakers touched on various topics like:

Servant Leadership
Worship & Leadership
Basic sermon prepration
Church Planting
Leadership Games
For each session notes and handout were provded. T he camp was fruitful and the participants enjoyed the good and challenging sessions as well as good food. On the last day brother Andrew concluded the camp with a wrap up message. He encouraged the leaders to be powerful witness to the own people here ann Nepal. We thank God for the successful camp and we also take this time to thank Bro. Joythi who consistently helped us from the beginning of the camp. We like to acknowledge the hard work of Bro Rajan for driving the van for us. Bro. Peter and his family on the last day blessed us with their presence. We like to thank MMK for subsidizing more than 50% of the amount, which indeed made our lives easier.

Praises and thanks to God that by His grace and through MMK, we have started a ministry among the Bangladeshi migrant workers. It is laudable that an increasing number of brothers and sisters are giving voluntary service in this ministry.

Present Activities:

We are visiting and distributing tracts, audio and video CDs in various factories and market places for their growth and knowledge.

We have started English classes in Telok Gong as it has always been a powerful avenue to reach out to the migrants.

Future Plans (Mission and Vision):

Computer and Bible Study classes and small prayer groups in Telok Gong.

By the grace of God one day we will have a few preaching stations for Bangladeshi migrants and they will declare that Jesus Christ is their Saviour.

I am most thankful to MMK for their great challenge and missionary zeal. I do hope and pray that through this ministry many more souls will be saved and ultimately God will be glorified.

On the second and fourth Sunday of every month, you will find in the unlikely place of the car park basement of Wesley Methodist Church Klang a group of women and men gathering here to minister in their own way to some workers who come from places as far away as Nepal, Vietnam, Myanmar, Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. These are the migrant workers who have come to know of these facilities through friends or through the grape vine that there is a place they can get some help for their medical problems or maybe, just a sympathetic ear to listen to their problems whatever, it maybe just a question of loneliness or frustration or exasperation with working conditions or even cases of unscrupulous employers who do not pay their workers. Some medical problems are beyond the help of this rather ad hoc arrangement of medical facilities but even then these men and women can give a helping hand in directing them to the proper places where help can be obtained. Sometimes legal advice is also sought and where possible that can be arranged too.

Food and drinks in the form of biscuits and coffee or tea are also available. Nothing fanciful. Looking at these groups of women and men, one wonders what is it that makes them volunteer and come regularly and zealously at that. They are mostly mature men and women with an occasional young one thrown into the mix but the group seems happy working away without a murmur and usually laughter and smiles and happy communications seem to be the order of the day. They are a mixed lot this group, of various nationalities, Indians, Chinese and even an occasional European! And sometimes from the migrant workers themselves some expertise may be offered. This group works steadily serving and ministering and dispensing medicines and advice efficiently and by seven in the evening it is over and the chairs and tables and the boxes of registration cards and medicines are stored away until the next round.

They have done two solid hours of work totally voluntarily having started at 5.00p.m. At the end of the day everybody goes off on their way to resume their own lives again. But deep down in their hearts there is a satisfaction that is not easy to describe. It can only be said that it is akin to the joy of the Lord. Yes! These men and women come from different churches with different denominational backgrounds and even different languages and cultural barriers to surmount yet when looking at them work together toiling under some harsh and difficult conditions one cannot but wonder what it is that brought them together like this giving what they can in terms of time and service and joyfully at that. Yes, this is the wonder of it all, to serve unselfishly and give something back in action because of the deep conviction that we have received so much and that we can never repay no matter how hard we try. The little medicine, the little time, the little expertise. The care and the love is so little we can only wish it would be more. If all this can bring but one soul into the Kingdom of God then it is more than enough to justify the time and effort.

Our medical clinic is open to all and whoever feels that this is the way to spend an evening with us then please don’t hesitate to join us. We are a happy band of men and women just serving and enjoying ourselves.

God Bless.

In His Service,
