MMK sponsors Cricket Match

The sport of cricket is a rarity in Malaysia, and even more so for migrant workers who lack the funds, venue and opportunity to meet to play this most-British of sports.

Migrant workers from cricket-crazy Pakistan and Bangladesh were delighted to be given the chance to indulge in the sport when MMK sponsored a match between teams from both communities on the Bayu Perdana sports ground in Klang on April 6, 2014.

The match between the 2 teams of 11 men each kicked off at 9.00 am, with the Bangladesh team being led by captain Muhammad Rabuil.

After an ardous struggle, the Pakistani team, led by captain Pervaiz, prevailed and won the match and accompanying trophy.

MMK generously provided not only the transport, food  & drinks,  but also the specialist cricket equuipment and paid for the pitch rental.

Both teams and their guests thoroughly enjoyed the exceptional chance to play the sport “properly”, as well as make new friends with a passion for cricket.
