“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John: 8:32)

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians: 5:1)

“Now the Lord is The Spirit, and where The Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2- Corinthians: 3:17)

14th August, 2013 – MMK’s Pakistani Fellowship celebrated Pakistan Independence Day at the Klang’s Wesley Methodist Church. THere was a large turnout of Pakistani congregants from Klang. A few of MMK representatives were there also. The event was opened with Bro. Robin saying a word of prayer. This was then followed by Riaz Fazal, Ali Shah and Saeed Ahmed bringing the Pakistani Flag onto the stage and all who attended stood up out of respect for the flag. The Pakistani National Anthem was then sung by all the Pakistani nationals. Mr. Riaz Fazal then briefly explained Pakistani history and shared the thought of Quaid-e-Millat, where it talks about religious freedom in Pakistan.

A Pakistani choir then presented a song of Psalm 148 along with two other songs. This was followed by several Pakistani groups and children who also sang some of the Pakistani national songs to show their love of Pakistan. Sister Sonal sang a song that God would show us his way and truth; that we can have freedom from our sins. Sister Ruby performed a short drama of Malala with her team. The drama was centered around the theme of educational rights and freedom.

Bro. David then came up to explain from the Holy Scripture what true freedom is. Brother JS also shared his thoughts and advice about being united in God’s Love. Guru Baghan Singh then shared the history of the sub-continent. He asked all Pakistanis to let love be their guide in Malaysia and Pakistan. Sister Suzanna Adams made the closing prayer at the end of this Programme.

A special note to Bro. Dr. Lim Ezee who has managed to get the cooperation of all to make the event a success, as well as Bro. Robin and Sister Nisha who were the moderators of this programme.

The event ended with everyone enjoying a sumptuous meal prepared by Uncle Saeed and his family.

The Pakistanis that attended the celebration of Pakistan Independence Day expressed affection for one another and voiced their appreciation of this occasion. They thanked MMK for remembering the Pakistanis and organizing this meaningful Pakistani fellowship to share Jesus’ love with them. This coming together of Pakistanis in Klang was a good way to unite all of the people in God’s love.

Do pray for us.
